چکیده

Abstract Theories of stellar convective core overshoot can be examined through analysis pulsating stars. Better accuracy achieved by obtaining external constraints such as those provided observing stars in eclipsing binary systems, but this requires that the parameters identified so photometric variations component may isolated from periodicity. This study aims to uncover physical three binaries observed Kepler spacecraft. We also seek evaluate feasibility accurately constraining using only readily available time-series photometry and distance estimates. Binary models were constructed Physics Eclipsing Binaries software package. Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods used sample parameter space these provide estimates posterior distributions for systems. An initial run binned light-curve data was performed identify general trends initializing a subsequent incorporating full set. present theoretical all binaries, along with our MCMC analyses. Models KIC 8314879 10727668 produced good match data, while model 5957123 failed generate an appropriate synthetic light curve. For two successful models, we interpret discuss confidence uncertainties. procedure various contexts propose several modifications improve success future studies.

Kic 8462852 Faded throughout the Kepler Mission

KIC 8462852 is a superficially ordinary main sequence F star for which Kepler detected an unusual series of brief dimming events. We obtain accurate relative photometry of KIC 8462852 from the Kepler full-frame images, finding that the brightness of KIC 8462852 monotonically decreased over the four years it was observed by Kepler. Over the first ∼1000 days KIC 8462852 faded approximately linear...

Asteroseismic modelling of the two F-type hybrid pulsators KIC 10080943A and KIC 10080943B

Context. Pulsating binary stars are ideal targets for testing the theory of stellar structure and evolution. Fundamental parameters can be derived to high precision from binary modelling and provide crucial constraints for seismic modelling. High-order gravity modes are sensitive to the conditions near the convective core and therefore allow for a determination of parameters describing interior...

KIC 2856960: the impossible triple star

KIC 2856960 is a star in the Kepler field which was observed by Kepler for 4 years. It shows the primary and secondary eclipses of a close binary of period 0.258 d as well as complex dipping events that last for about 1.5 d at a time and recur on a 204 d period. The dips are thought to result when the close binary passes across the face of a third star. In this paper we present an attempt to mo...

Optical Polarimetry of KIC 8462852 in May–August 2017

We present optical polarimetry in the period May–August 2017 of the enigmatic “dipping”star KIC 8462852. During that period three ∼ 1% photometric dips were reported by other observers. We measured the average absolute polarization of the source, and find no excess or unusual polarization compared to a nearby comparison star. We place tight upper limits on any change in the degree of polarizati...

The Relation between the Transit Depths of Kic 12557548b & the Stellar Rotation Period

Kawahara and collaborators analyzed the transits of the candidate disintegrating Mercury-mass planet KIC 12557548b and suggested that the transit depths were correlated with the phase of the stellar rotation. We have carried out a more extensive and comprehensive analysis of the transit depths of KIC 12557548b and confirm that there is indeed a robust, statistically significant signal in the tr...
